The OutBack CNC Machine is our strongest, most rigid CNC Router model. The OutBack has upgraded the motion system on all axes from our tried and tested wheel system to heavy-duty HGR and MGN linear rails with recirculating ball-bearing sliders. The HGH15CA Bearing is commonly seen on larger automation systems and CNC Machines with heavy-duty linear actuators. By securing steel linear rails to the aluminium extrusion and replacing roller wheels with recirculating captive bearings, the rigidity and overall dynamic strength of the OutBack CNC model have immensely increased. The OutBack CNC is designed to be capable of machining wood and soft metals with a heavier more powerful spindle. Deformation and chatter are minimised with the improvement of the C-Beam HEAVY extrusion paired with the installation of steel linear rails.

Upgradable Extrusions for X and Y Axis – Maker Store Exclusive Option
Standard C-BEAM
C-Beam HEAVY
Heavy Duty HGR15 and MGN15 Linear Rails and Bearings
The OutBack CNC Machine uses HGR15 Rails for the X and Y axes for maximum performance, while having a strategically placed low-profile rail and bearing (MGN15) on the Z-axis bringing the centre of gravity of the gantry closer to the X-axis for a better balance and reducing vibrations when the machine is moving across the material being cut.
The sturdy construction of these rails and bearings allows them to withstand harsh operating conditions, leading to a longer service life compared to other linear guide options. Their robustness makes them suitable for continuous use in demanding environments
Jaw Couplers
Jaw couplers are designed for precision engineering applications. The jaw couplers available at Maker Store are made with high-grade materials, ensuring tight tolerances and reliable performance in demanding applications. By using jaw couplers in the OutBack CNC Machine, you can reduce wear and tear on your machine. Our couplers minimize vibration and shock loads, thereby extending the lifespan of your CNC components.
Reliable Micro Limit Switches (NEW)
Our kit includes upgraded Long Arm SPDT Micro Limit Switches, providing enhanced precision and reliability for your CNC machine. It is common for kits with physical micro limit switches to use standard 10T85 Micro Limit Switches, which we also used at Maker Store initially. However, we found that these standard switches did not meet our high standards. That’s why all our kits now include the higher quality CMV103C Micro Limit Switches.
These upgraded switches offer a stronger switch component, more robust terminal connections, and a longer arm to provide a larger contact area. Standard 10T85 switches often lack the durability and precision required for high-performance CNC applications, leading to frequent replacements and potential downtime.
Pre Programmed VFD
Many VFDs on the market require extensive programming and setup, which can be time-consuming and prone to expensive errors. To simplify this process, our engineers have pre-configured the VFD, allowing users to start their projects immediately without the need for a complex initial setup. In addition to potentiometer control, we provide detailed instructions for switching to 0-10V control through the controller. This flexibility allows users to tailor the system to their specific needs. The ability to switch control modes ensures that users can control their machines however they want.
The pre-programmed VFD offers significant advantages in terms of ease of use and operational efficiency. Quick and easy setup means faster project initiation, allowing users to focus on their work rather than configuration. By eliminating the need for extensive programming, we reduce the risk of setup errors, ensuring a more reliable and user-friendly experience.
ACME Lead Screws – High-Resolution Transmission
Lead Screw machines are designed to achieve high-resolution levels and great repeatability. It also requires little maintenance, with nut-blocks often having a functional life of longer than 3 years. Lead Screw transmission combined with a bipolar stepper motor has a resolution of 0.04mm without any microstepping settings. Considering the recommended 1/4 set in your microstepping settings, the same Lead Screw can provide 0.01mm resolution.
All of our Lead Screws are specialised ACME thread TR8x8(P2), in basic terms, this means one revolution of the Lead Screw will make the nut-block travel four times further than a standard threaded rod which is only a single start. Furthermore, this precision trapezoidal (metric) lead screws’ pitch and diameter are a perfect combination of high torque and speed.
