80mm Slider Block – 40 Series

$159.95 Inc. GST

This solid-state linear guidance component features a silver-anodised aluminium alloy chassis with replaceable, self-lubricating nylon sliders designed for direct integration within the track channels of 4080 Series T-Slot extrusion profiles. Its primary function is to provide unlubricated, low-friction linear translation while resisting dust and debris accumulation, utilising bolted sliding elements that allow simple field replacement without secondary machining. Typical applications include guiding linear carriages and tool platforms on CNC routers, 3D printers, laser cutters, and filming rigs, as well as supporting sliding doors, adjustable industrial guarding panels, and workstation fixtures.

Description

Technical Overview

The 80mm Slider Block – 40 Series functions as a solid-state linear guidance component. Specifically, engineers designed this hardware to serve as a low-maintenance alternative to traditional rolling element bearings and wheel assemblies. To facilitate motion, the anodised aluminium block incorporates replaceable, self-lubricating black nylon sliders. Consequently, these sliders slide smoothly within the channels of 4080 Series T-Slot aluminium extrusion profiles without requiring oil or grease lubrication.

In order to minimise maintenance downtime, the sliding elements screw directly into the silver-anodised aluminium alloy chassis. This configuration enables simple element replacement when wear eventually occurs. Furthermore, the solid-state design inherently resists the accumulation of airborne dust and workshop debris. Therefore, the assembly maintains consistent sliding resistance and quiet operation across linear motion tracks without requiring secondary machining adjustments to the host framework.

Applications

Technicians regularly deploy these 80mm slider blocks within the linear positioning tracks of modular assemblies built from 4080 T-Slot extrusion profiles. In particular, assembly teams utilise these low-friction components to construct the linear rail systems of CNC routers, laser cutters, and 3D printers. Furthermore, operators install them to guide print heads, build platforms, or camera slider carriages along stable coordinate paths.

Additionally, the debris-resistant sliding mechanism interfaces effectively with adjustable industrial guarding panels and sliding doors. As a result, this feature makes the block highly applicable for securing machine enclosures, automated assembly lines, and custom material handling workstations. Meanwhile, builders must note that the physical tracking dimensions conform strictly to 4080 Series family constraints. As a direct consequence of these unalterable geometry profiles, this hardware configuration does not interface with smaller 20 Series framing systems

Installation Guide:

  1. Position the Bearing Block – Align it with the 4080 Series Extrusion.
  2. Slide into the T-Slot – Ensure the black nylon sliders engage properly with the profile slot.
  3. Secure in Place – Use M8 Bolts  to firmly fix the bearing block.
  4. Test the Motion – Slide the block along the rail to ensure smooth movement.
    • Replace the Sliders When Needed – If the sliders wear out over time, simply unscrew and swap them out, extending the product’s lifespan.

Maker Store Tips and Tricks

  • Ensure the 4080 extrusion track channels remain entirely free of residual grease or oils, as wet lubricants can attract abrasive dust and increase slider wear.

  • Periodically check the tightness of the slider mounting screws in high-vibration applications to prevent unseating.

  • Slide the block manually along the entire rail length prior to final drive assembly to verify smooth clearance and parallel alignment.

What makes T-Slots such an easy assembly task?

Building frames out of T-Slot extrusions is easy because they eliminate the need for specialised tools or welding, simplifying the assembly process. Building frames using T-Slot Linear Rail will require;

  1. 40 Series T-Slot Extrusions: These are the main structural components, usually made of aluminium, with slots along their lengths that allow you to easily connect various parts and accessories.
  2. 40 Series Brackets and Connectors: These are specialised components designed to fit into the T-Slot extrusions and secure them together at various angles. They include corner brackets, T-nuts, L-shaped brackets, and other connectors.
  3. Fasteners: Bolts, screws, and nuts are required to attach the brackets and connectors to the T-Slot extrusions securely.
  4. Tools: Basic hand tools like wrenches, Allen keys (hex keys), and screwdrivers are necessary for assembly. Additionally, a saw may be needed to cut the T-Slot extrusions to your desired lengths.
