Introducing Maker Store’s most recent innovation – A better Type 30 T-Track Design!
Over time, we began noticing certain design flaws with the traditional Type 30 T-Track profile. At first, it seemed like minor inconveniences like countersunk holes that required specific countersunk screws to allow correct clearance for the T-Track Nut. When using Type 30 T-Tracks within the new FORTIS Plasma CNC Knife Bed, we found that the standard T-Tracks did not have the right hole spacing to be directly attached to the 40 Series T-Slot Aluminium Extrusion. That’s when we knew that we had to add unique features to the standard T-Track Design and also have a CNC drilling machine to customise the holes for some of our present and future needs.
Through research, we developed the new Maker Store Type 30 T-Track that significantly improved functionality. By rethinking the profile from the ground up and providing further customisation, we were able to create a unique T-Track that not only addressed previous issues but also pushed the boundaries of what was possible in terms of functionality and ease of use.
Our all-new Maker Store Type 30 T-Track is a drop-in replacement for Standard Type 30 T-Track and it can still be used with all Type 30 compatible hardware like the Hold Down Clamps and other Type 30 accessories. T-Tracks are widely used in woodworking, metalworking and other industrial and non-industrial fields, particularly as machinery spoilerboards. They are used to secure and stabilise the workpiece allowing you to perform various operations while your workpiece never moves! This is a fantastic tool by itself. However, as huge fans of T-Track, the Maker Store engineering team has designed this T-Track to solve the shortcomings of regular Type 30 T-Track.
New and improved Maker Store Type 30 T-Track profile
The new T-Track design is both functional and versatile. One of its standout features is the thin slot running along its entire length, which provides enough clearance for the heads of certain screws to sit flush within the channel. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who previously had to deal with various standards for countersunk screws and hoped that they would match the countersink hole designed in standard T-Tracks. The mismatch between the countersunk screw and the countersink hole in the T-Track can affect the mounting of T-Track Nuts or Clamps. By ensuring that the screws sit flush with the new Maker Store Design, the track maintains a clean, streamlined surface, enhancing both the look and performance of the T-Track.
We’ve also opted to include a V-shaped groove directly along the centre of the T-Track. This seemingly small detail has a big impact. Anyone who has installed T-Tracks knows the frustration when pursuing to increase its rigidity by adding extra aligned holes – measuring, marking, and hoping everything lines up perfectly. This groove takes away all that hassle. It serves as a guide for your drill bit, so you no longer have to spend time painstakingly measuring or worrying about your holes being off-centre. Just place your drill bit into the groove and go. It’s a simple yet brilliant feature that not only speeds up installation but also ensures that the result is more accurate.
For those who use T-Tracks in their work, whether for jigs, fixtures, or tool mounting, this redesign offers a smoother, more reliable experience. The flush-fitting bolts and drill alignment groove combine to create a system that’s faster and easier to work with. There’s no more second-guessing whether your measurements are off, and no more adjustments needed to accommodate bolt heads that don’t quite fit.

Applications
Mounting to 20-Series V-Slot or 40-Series T-Slot
Thanks to the new Maker Store Type 30 T-Track design, mounting the T-Track to either 20-Series V-Slot or 40-Series T-Slot is now a breeze!
Mounting to the 20-Series V-Slot is very straightforward using M5 T-Nuts and 8mm M5 Low-Profile Bolts.
To do this, simply slide the M5 T-Nut into the 20-Series V-Slot Extrusion. Then, insert the 8mm M5 Low-Profile Bolt through the T-Track mounting hole and tighten it into the T-Nut within the 20-Series V-Slot Extrusion.

For stronger support, the 40-Series T-Slot Extrusions is a fantastic choice! Once again, you can easily mount the T-Track to a 40-Series T-Slot Extrusion using M5 T-Nuts and 8mm M5 Low-Profile Bolts.
To do this, simply slide the M5 T-Nut into the 40-Series T-Slot Extrusion. Then, insert the 12mm M5 Low-Profile Bolt through the T-Track mounting hole and tighten it into the T-Nut within the 40-Series T-Slot Extrusion.
