3 Hole Joining Strip – 30 Series, M6

$4.90 Inc. GST

The 3 Hole Joining Strip – 30 Series M6 is a flat aluminium plate for reinforcing inline butt joints between two 30 Series T-slot extrusion profiles. Mounted on the outer slot face and clamped with three M6 bolts, it provides greater stiffness against axial separation and bending across the splice than the two-hole variant. Preferred for joints subject to bending loads or sustained vibration.

Description

Technical Overview

The 3 Hole Joining Strip – 30 Series M6 is a flat aluminium joining plate for reinforcing and spanning inline butt joints between two 30 Series T-slot aluminium extrusion profiles. This joining strip fits into the T-slot channel on the outer face of the joint, clamping with M6 bolts through three bolt holes – at least one bolt per profile and a central or offset third bolt – for greater joint stiffness and longer bearing engagement than the 2-hole variant.

The additional hole increases the effective clamping area and distributes the joint load over a longer span, reducing point stress at the joint line and improving resistance to bending across the splice. The three-hole configuration is preferred when the joined profiles are subject to bending moment across the joint or when higher joint stiffness is needed in the axial direction.

Applications

The 3 Hole Joining Strip – 30 Series M6 reinforces butt-spliced profile runs in 30 Series T-slot frame assemblies where greater spanning stiffness is needed across the joint. Fix with M6 cap head bolts. Typical applications include long machine bed extensions, gantry bridge profile splices, worktable frame extension joints subject to spanning loads, heavy-duty automation frames, and any 30 Series frame assembly where a longer surface-mounted joining plate is required to safely reinforce a profile splice against both axial separation and bending across the joint.

For shorter joint spans or locations with limited surface area, the 2 Hole Joining Strip – 30 Series, M6 is an alternative. Furthermore, use Sliding T-Nut – 30 Series, 10 Pack to load the slot before clamping, and apply plates to at least two opposing slot faces for maximum bending resistance across the splice.

Maker Store Tips and Tricks

    • Position the strip plate centrally over the joint line so the outer two holes fall within each profile and the centre hole crosses the joint, maximising joint retention.
    • Insert T-nuts into the slot before positioning the plate – the slot must be accessible for T-nut loading before the plate is clamped.
    • Tighten the outer two bolts first to seat the plate against both profiles, then tighten the centre bolt to draw the joint tight.
    • Apply strip plates on at least two opposing slot faces of the profile cross-section for maximum bending stiffness across the splice.
    • The 3-hole variant is preferred over the 2-hole where the joint carries bending moment or where long-term vibration resistance is required.
