Description
Technical Overview
The 20mm pivot joint connects two pieces of aluminum extrusion at adjustable angles. This specialized hardware component operates just like a hinge. Specifically, it allows for articulation up to 180°. You can also lock it securely in place to provide reliable structural support.
To ensure straight tracking, the connector uses break-off alignment tabs that slide into the V-Slot channel. However, you can easily remove these tabs if needed. Removing them enables flush mounting anywhere along the face or slot of the profile.
Applications
This 20mm connector works perfectly for dynamic frameworks. It also excels in structures that require custom-angled bracing. For instance, builders commonly use it to construct adjustable arms, angled supports, and swivel mounts. Consequently, you will find it in robotics, custom machine enclosures, 3D printers, CNC routers, and camera rigs.
Furthermore, you can pair the component with a lock handle. In this configuration, it functions effectively as a heavy-duty, lockable hinge for moving doors, access panels, or retractable fixtures. To install it, you can fasten the component directly to the end of an extrusion profile. Alternatively, you can mount it along the face using standard T-Nuts and bolts.

Maker Store Tips and Tricks
-
Ensure the alignment tabs are left intact if you require a perfectly straight inline joint along the V-Slot channel.
-
Break off the alignment tabs using pliers if you intend to mount the pivot joint flush against the face of an extrusion or cross-profile.
-
When mounting to the end of a profile, ensure the center hole of the aluminum extrusion is properly tapped to accept the mounting bolt.
