Description
Technical Overview
The Aluminium Hinge – 30 Series M6 is a silver die-cast aluminium two-leaf hinge for attaching doors, covers, and panels to 30 Series T-slot aluminium extrusion frames. Each leaf features M6 bolt holes that mount directly to the extrusion face or T-slot channel. The metal construction provides greater rigidity and load capacity than plastic hinges, making it well suited to heavier panels, regular-use access doors, and builds where panel stiffness and long-term durability are priorities.
The silver powder-coated surface matches standard 30 Series aluminium extrusion aesthetics. In addition, the die-cast aluminium body resists deformation under repeated loading better than nylon alternatives, ensuring the door continues to close accurately over time.
Applications
The Aluminium Hinge – 30 Series M6 suits heavier access doors, enclosure side panels, and covers on 30 Series T-slot aluminium extrusion builds where a plastic hinge would not provide adequate rigidity or load-bearing capacity. In addition, typical applications include CNC machine enclosure doors, industrial workstation side panels, heavy control panel access doors, and aluminium composite panel doors on structural 30 Series frames.
Mount each side to the extrusion face or slot using M6 T-bolts and T-nuts from the 30 Series hardware range. For lighter panel applications, the Plastic Hinge – 30 Series, M6 provides a lower-weight alternative at 52 x 45 mm.

Maker Store Tips and Tricks
-
- Mount both hinge leaves to the extrusion before attaching the panel – this allows easier alignment of bolt holes on the panel side.
- Use M6 T-bolts in the T-slot channel on the extrusion leaf and M6 cap head bolts on the panel leaf, or drill and tap directly into an aluminium panel.
- For a door with two hinges, position them at approximately one-quarter and three-quarters of the door height to distribute load evenly.
- The aluminium construction accepts standard torque values for M6 bolts – do not over-tighten as this can strip the tapped holes in the hinge body.
