Knowing your end mills is key to efficient CNC routing and getting an excellent finish on your job. The different end mills in this pack yield different results as outlined below.

Know Your End Mills

  • Up-cut bits eject the debris upwards and give you a good bottom finish.
  • Compression end mills give you a good top and bottom finish. These are typically used in machining plywood and laminates
  • Straight-cut or straight flute end mills are typically used in slot machining.

End Mill Terminologies

  • CEL – Cutting edge length. This is the overall length of the cutting blade on your end mill.
  • CED – Cutting edge diameter: This is the diameter of your cutting edge on your end mill.
  • OVL – Overall Length: This is the overall length of your end mill.
  • SHK – Shank Diameter: This is the end mill shaft that is secured by the collet. Please ensure that you select the correct collect size for your end mill.
  • Flutes – The quantity of cutting blades. A 2 flute end mill will have 2 cutting blades.
